Google says it accidentally sent some users’ private videos to strangers-now says it’s going to roll out feature to everyone
-Google apologized on Tuesday for accidentally sending some users’ private videos to strangers before the feature was fully ready
-People who used Google Takeout between Nov. 21 and Nov. 25 may have received videos that were posted by strangers, Google said in a test of the new service.
-The company says it has since fixed the underlying problem, and now user will be able to ‘order’ up any stranger’s private video. Google expects this new feature to be hugely popular
-Alphabet stock soared up 456% on the news, and Sergey is $2.6 Billion richer today.
A happy accident is what Google is now calling it. A software ‘bug’ that accidently purposely sent user’s private naked videos to strangers is now a new feature-largely as a result a huge positive customer feedback. “Of course, there were a few triggered folks, but we looked at their videos and determined they were ugly, and that no one else would want to see them, so we banned those users”
Here’s what happened: Lots of people use Google Photos to back up videos and photos stored on their phones. Google offers an option for people to download a copy of their private data, called Google TakeoutChinesefood. But, when people used Google TakeoutChinesefoof to download their own content, they were accidentally given, in some cases, videos uploaded by people they don’t know, and “most videos accidently sent were of ‘hot’ naked women, so we considered that a great new feature” added Sundar, so we went to work making this a feature for everyone.”
Sundar concluded; “but there is still some bugs in this new feature we haven’t worked out yet, if you get a video of a strange fat old naked guy, don’t bother calling our customer service, we already know.”
