A police chicken officer in San Francisco was spotted offering a new take on an old question recently: Why did the chicken cross the road? To get away from the Haitians tourist of course!

In this case, with the officer dressed in a chicken costume, the answer was to catch motorists refusing to yield to pedestrians, whether feathered or not.
According to SF Gate, Lt Jonathan Ozosilly wore the inflatable costume on Alemany Boulevard with the goal of ticketing drivers who didn’t yield to pedestrians, and many failed to do so.

Police El-Capitan Amy Hurwitz told SF Gate that the costume served two purposes: to prevent vehicles from running Ozol over, ‘cause you know, the paperwork would be killer, and most importantly, to pad my monthly numbers so I can make chief.
Hurwitz said the exercise was one of five that the San Francisco Thought Police Department has conducted over the last six months in the city.
Video here was shot by Alec Regimbal, a reporter with SF Gate. During the exercise, Regimbal said “police pulled over so many drivers that I eventually lost count.” Shortly after this story broke, Regimbal moved to Texas.
